Writing on detailing, BIM and engineering data.

Longer pieces on the parts of the job that decide whether a project runs — how packages are produced, how they are checked, what the standards actually require, and where digital workflows earn their cost.

What we write about

Written by people who produce packages for a living, for the engineer, detailer, fabricator's project manager or client-side information manager who has to make the decision the article is about. Everything below is grouped by what it helps you decide.

Detailing, steel and precast

Where design becomes something a shop can actually make.

BIM, models and data

What a model commits you to, and how the data moves between the people who need it.

Quality, compliance and document control

The paperwork that decides whether a package is approved or returned.

Choosing and scoping engineering work

Decisions that are mostly made — well or badly — in the first two weeks.

Engineering by sector

What each kind of structure actually demands of the people detailing it.

Materials, resilience and what is coming

Longer-range pieces, kept to what is actually demonstrated.

FAQ

Common questions

Who writes these articles?

Engineers and detailers who work on delivery, with editing for readability rather than for keyword density. Where an article states a standard or a code requirement, it is the requirement as published; where it states an opinion about practice, it is written as an opinion.

Can I reuse or cite an article?

Yes, with attribution and a link back to the original page. If you want to reproduce a piece in full, in a newsletter or an internal training pack, ask us first and we will usually say yes and check whether anything in it has been superseded since publication.

Where can I read about how a package is actually produced?

The service pages describe the delivery model in detail — what each package contains, how the automated checks work, and what a senior engineer reviews before signing. The articles here go wider than that, into the standards, the technology and the decisions around the work.
